Leadership and NEC elections

Following a well-attended meeting on the 23rd of February, Labour International Left Alliance recommends the following candidates for the Leadership and NEC elections:

Leader and Deputy Leader

LeaderRebecca Long-Bailey.
*No second preference.

Deputy Leader – Richard Burgon.
Alternative choice – Dawn Butler*

Richard Burgon supports Open Selection, as does Rebecca Long-Bailey. Dawn believes that members should have the final say in candidate selection, but stops short of definitively supporting Open Selection.

All candidates for the Leadership elections were asked the same set of the most frequently asked questions from Labour International members. Of the Leadership candidates, only Rebecca Long-Bailey took the opportunity to answer our members’ questions.
Rebecca’s answers are available here, and the Deputy candidates’ answers here.

*An earlier announcement incorrectly stated there was no 2nd choice selected, whereas in fact Dawn Butler was chosen as a 2nd choice of candidate.

NEC

The following candidates were endorsed for the NEC:
Jo Bird
Lauren Townsend

Both candidates are on the left, and support Open Selection.

NEC BAME

Recommended BAME Candidate:
Chaudhry Qamer Iqbal
Chaudhry stands for
Open Selection
A fair and transparent complaints system
NEC members to be accountable and accessible to CLPs and members
